Forum Actions. Report Post. I have 2 computers, an Asus Both computers started bombing and restarting about the same time. My guess is that my Asus driver did not keep up with a windows update. No solutions, but hopefully be help to someone figuring it out?
I also do not know how to update the video driver. Do i do it from nvidia? Download it directly from Nvidia. Hi everyone i would like to post that I just had this crash happen to me as well. For the last maybe 6 months I have used the same older NVidia driver without any problems. But i decided to uninstall it and upgrade to the latest driver, this is what my device manager says the driver version is: 8.
Anyway, I have only had this driver installed for about a week, i did a clean intall too using the clean install driver sweeper guide from these forums. So, today I am just looking at the internet and my screen drops out goes black, and the monitor goes into power saving mode, then the monitor lights back up and a message says my nvidia display driver kernel crashed and was reset automatically.
This is the first time it happened to me and i hope it's the last. But I can't imagine what would be causing it. Somethings definitely wrong with the driver. Has there been any official response or has any solution been offered?
I will grab it and repot back I too suspect a windows update triggered the latest issue, but i am still confused why I am getting similar freezes in both CP and Windows 7. Both 64bit OSS' so maybe? Why so many threads about the same issue? Anyway, have anyone tried to turn the computer off for a few minutes or hours? Everytime I had my computer turned off for a hour or two, it would work fine for a few weeks until the driver stopped working again. So do you ppl really need Win7?
For my personal reason I have borrowed an ATi-card from a friend and running fine with Win7. And if you really need Win7 for playing BF3 and other high-tech games, then buy an ATi-card until Nvidia could fix this problem.
Thought it was just minor instability but it seems to be worse some days than others. I get the "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" once or twice a week, sometimes once a day as its very sporadic, and last night it did it 5 times in a row before my system actually bluescreened on me.
This was a first. Usually the whole screen goes black for a second, then things suddenly clear up and it fixes. Not sure about the rest of you guys, but I can tell its about to crash because weird artifacts start appearing on the screen, little bars of random colors, then parts of Aero will start flickering black, if you go to drag a window across the screen it leaves a trail of flashing black seizure bars behind it If you're watching a video, mine seem to tear in a diagonal pattern, the top left half of the video will play normally while the bottom right diagonal half will freeze and lock up before stuttering.
Audio keeps playing, only the video goes weird. Once it crashes I usually have to re-start whatever video app I was using and things are usually fine for a day or two afterwards. I took a video with my iPhone and can try putting it on youtube if needed showing the crash from beginning to end. Skill DDR3 2 x 12gb kits. I have been having this problem for about a week.
New Dell computer with Windows 7 64bit, GT video and 2 displays. Seems the one on HDMI cable acts up more. Updated to the XX driver and that didn't fix it. Downloading I am not a gamer - I am working on website design and it happens the most when I'm in a browser.
It's done it so much that I've gotten use to it and just wait for it to recover. But it's aggravating and annoying. I'm worried it's going to fail in the middle of this big job. This needs to be fixed? What else can we do? I'm under warranty. Wonder if there's another video card that will work?
Any suggestions? We are dealing with that problem over 6 months now since branch! Nope - didn't know that. Will go to that thread. Depressing that it's been going on that long. TDRs have been an ongoing issue ever since Windows Vista.
I run XP 64 bit dual boot and get the same issue. It stops responding and is not smart enough to recover like W7. That said I updated to the latest drivers for both OS's and the XP seems better it was freezing using Firefox before and now seems to have delays in movements lags at times but doesn't freeze permanently so I have to power it off so that is an improvement.
My W7 got the new drivers also but reinstalling sound drivers for my SB card it crashed. It seems stable and I actually got it to run the performance index test which prior was guaranteed to get a BSOD.
I'm having this as well on my Ti. I'm very disappointed with this.
